The club attracts some of the finest jazz musicians in UK and beyond; John Etheridge, Gilad Atzmon, Tim Garland, Ian Shaw, John Donaldson, Art Themen, Bobby Wellins, Don Weller, John Parricelli, Mark Lockheart, Mornington Lockett, Steve Waterman, Damon Brown, Jonathan Gee and many more great players have all worked at the club since its opening in May 1999; many musicians describe the club as one of the best venues to play anywhere in the UK!

Located in the heart of Oxford’s historic city centre, the club sits in a suitably bohemian alleyway off the High Street. Many regard a club setting as easily the best way to experience live jazz and with its intimate atmosphere, excellent acoustics, candle-lit tables and evocative lighting, the Spin is the quintessential jazz venue. We attract a hip mix of jazz cognoscenti, students, intelligentsia, misfits and those who are just plain curious. While the sounds compare with top jazz venues anywhere, entry is not expensive and drinks are served at pub rather than club prices (there is a comprehensive wine list, selection of real ales and so on).

The club is open on Thursdays. Musicians come to the club as guest artists to play with the house trio or play the club with their own band (usually as part of a tour). You can book seats in advance for any gig simply by selecting the band that you want to hear and then click on ‘Book Tickets’. If you don’t want to book a seat in advance, you can just turn up on the night and take your chance – there are usually some spare seats when doors open and there is always plenty of standing room.
